Chinese technology giant Pudu Robotics, in partnership with Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development, has announced that it will open the world's first hotel operated entirely by robots in 2027, marking a major milestone for the tourism industry.

The futuristic hotel, to be built on West Artificial Island in Guangdong Province, will rely entirely on AI-powered robots to handle every operational task—from front desk services and room service to housekeeping and luggage transportation. The property will feature 44 luxury guest rooms, a restaurant, a fitness center, and various social spaces. A limited trial operation, offering a reduced number of rooms and services, is scheduled to begin in late 2026.

MANAGED THROUGH A SINGLE AI PLATFORM

The hotel will not simply consist of individual robots performing separate tasks. Instead, the entire operation will be coordinated through a unified intelligent service ecosystem powered by PuduFM 1.0 AI and the PuduAgent platform.

By sharing a common AI infrastructure, reception robots capable of understanding gestures and social interactions, delivery robots that optimize their own routes, and cleaning robots that automatically detect waste will work together in real time.

As part of the project, FlashBot robots will deliver drinks ordered via smartphone directly to guest rooms, PUDU T300 robots will transport luggage, while PUDU CC1 Pro and MT1 robots will handle cleaning operations. With this pioneering initiative, the developers aim to transform West Artificial Island into a global destination for robotics and advanced technology tourism.

Romania's Chamber of Deputies Approves Bill on Unification with Moldova

The historic bill proposing the unification of Romania and Moldova under a single state has been approved by Romania's lower house of parliament, the Chamber of Deputies. The proposal, submitted in February by Member of the European Parliament Diana Șoșoacă, was deemed automatically approved under the parliament's "tacit approval" procedure after it was not put to a vote within the required 45-day period.

The bill has now been forwarded to the Senate, the upper house of parliament, which will make the final decision on whether it becomes law.

MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT BACKS UNIFICATION

The idea of creating a single state has also received high-level support in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova. Moldovan President Maia Sandu stated in January that she would vote in favor of unification in a future referendum.

"Moldova, as a small country, is finding it increasingly difficult to survive as a democratic and sovereign state and to stand alone against Russia," Sandu said, highlighting the country's growing security concerns.

Moldova has continued its pro-Western course while accelerating its integration with the European Union (EU). In April, the country decided to completely withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), ending one of its last major institutional ties dating back to the post-Soviet era.

In the 2024 referendum, a majority of Moldovans voted "Yes" to EU membership. In the September 2025 parliamentary elections, Maia Sandu's party retained its constitutional majority, allowing the country to continue its path toward deeper Western integration.

TENSIONS WITH RUSSIA ESCALATE

The growing rapprochement between Moldova and Romania has further intensified tensions with Russia. Following Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree making it easier for residents of the breakaway Transnistria region to obtain Russian passports, Moscow stepped up its warnings toward Chișinău.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova declared that any action against Russian citizens in the region would be met with "an immediate response using all necessary means."

Kristina Öztürk, the wife of fugitive businessman Galip Öztürk, the founder of Metro Turizm, has revealed that the couple's long-term goal is to build a family of 105 children. The couple currently has 22 children and has reportedly spent hundreds of thousands of euros on surrogate mothers

Kristina Öztürk spoke about their family plans in an interview with the YouTube channel Bright Side.

They Want 105 Children

The 26-year-old mother, who already has 22 children, said she hopes to have at least 80 more in the future.

"I am always with the children and do everything that mothers normally do," Kristina said.

Kristina and her 58-year-old husband, Galip Öztürk, welcomed their first child in 2017. Of their remaining 21 children, all but two were born through surrogate mothers in 2020.

They Paid Hundreds of Thousands of Euros

According to Bright Side, the couple paid €168,000 to surrogate mothers between March 2020 and July 2021 to expand their family. In addition, they reportedly spend around €89,000 per year to employ 16 live-in nannies who help care for the children.

Most of the children, who are now between two and three years old, are named Mustafa, Maryam, Ayrin, Alice, Hassan, Judy, Harper, Teresa, Hussein, Anna, Isabella, Ismail, Mehmet, Ahmet, Ali, Kristina, Alena, Sarah, Lockman, and Alparslan.

Although the couple still hopes to eventually have more than 100 children, they have decided to postpone expanding their family further until their current children are older.

Who Is Galip Öztürk?

Galip Öztürk was sentenced to life imprisonment in Türkiye for instigating the murder of Kuvvet Köseoğlu, who was killed in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district 25 years ago. After reportedly learning in advance that the Supreme Court had upheld his sentence, Öztürk fled to Georgia in 2018.

He had previously served time in prison in 2012 for forcing individuals to sign promissory notes.

During a police operation at his office in Batumi, Georgia, authorities also announced that 7.2 kilograms of cocaine had been found in his apartment.

Now a Georgian citizen, Galip Öztürk is the Honorary Chairman of the Metro Companies Group and was also the founding chairman of the Turkish Bus Operators Federation, established in 2005.

MANILA -- At least 19 people died and 12 are missing after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of the Philippine island of Mindanao on Monday morning, disaster management officials reported. A further 134 have been injured and many schools, shops, offices and commercial buildings collapsed or sustained damage after the tremor at 7:37 a.m., the Office of Civil Defense said in a statement at 3:20 p.m. local time. Ten of the confirmed deaths were in General Santos, the city 15 kilometers from the epicenter, and five in Sarangani, the closest province in Mindanao to the epicenter. The other deaths were reported elsewhere across the island. Rod Sosmena, director of the Office of Civil Defense region that covers Mindanao, told Nikkei Asia that the casualty figures might well rise as reports are verified.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers at 7:37 a.m., the German Research Center for Geosciences said. Geophysics agencies in the Philippines and neighboring Indonesia issued tsunami warnings, and waves up to 1.4 meters higher than normal were reported in several areas. A number of aftershocks greater than magnitude-6 were reported. The warnings were lifted at 3:20 p.m. local time and the international airport in General Santos, which is 1,050 kilometers south of the capital Manila, had resumed operations by mid-afternoon.

Social media posts showed widespread damage to a variety of buildings, roads and bridges, particularly in General Santos, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the suspension of classes in all schools in affected areas across Mindanao on what was the first day of the country's new school year.

"The national government is moving, and we will not leave Mindanao behind," the president said in a statement about what is one of the country's less well developed areas. "I am in constant communication with our regional offices and local chief executives on the ground." Neighboring Indonesia also issued a tsunami warning.

One woman who lives just outside Manado, the nearest big Indonesian city to the epicenter, said she felt the quake but added: "We're all good and safe." As part of the "Pacific Ring of Fire," a seismically active belt stretching from South America to the Russian Far East, the Philippines and Indonesia experience hundreds of earthquakes every year.

The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia officially recognized the State of Palestine on Sunday, joining over 140 members of the United Nations who have already taken this step, despite strong opposition from Israel.

"Canada recognizes the State of Palestine and offers its partnership in building the promise of a peaceful future for both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel," said Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in a statement.

He emphasized that this decision "supports those who seek peaceful coexistence and the end of Hamas," adding that "it in no way legitimizes terrorism and does not reward it."

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also announced in a video that he had officially recognized the State of Palestine, but that this does not represent a victory for Hamas.

"Today, to revive the hope for peace and a two-state solution, I clearly declare - as Prime Minister of this great country - that the United Kingdom officially recognizes the State of Palestine," he said in a video statement.

Apple recently launched the new iPhone Air, which works exclusively with eSIM, without a slot for the traditional SIM card.

This move marks the beginning of the end for physical SIM cards. eSIM allows users to switch networks or plans without physically handling a SIM card. Analyst Kester Mann from CCS Insight told BBC News that Apple's announcement "marks the beginning of the end for the physical SIM card."

What is eSIM?

eSIM stands for Embedded Subscriber Identity Module. The chip is an essential part of the phone, enabling connection to the mobile network, managing calls, messages, and data usage. In recent years, eSIM has emerged as an alternative, with many new phones offering the option to use either a traditional SIM or eSIM.

Benefits of eSIM

Paolo Pescatore, a technology analyst at PP Foresight, emphasized that the shift to eSIM offers "numerous benefits." These include saving internal space in the phone, allowing for larger batteries. It’s also more eco-friendly, eliminating the need for plastic SIM cards. Pescatore believes eSIM users will have more options for carriers when traveling abroad, avoiding "bill shock."

Changes in customer behavior

Kester Mann stated that this technology will bring new customer behaviors and "will slowly change the way people interact with their mobile carrier." For example, some customers won’t need to go to a physical store to discuss their SIM card. However, like any change, it may not be well-received by everyone. Mann added: "The change could be particularly significant among older age groups or people less comfortable with technology. The industry will need to make efforts to explain how eSIMs work."

What does the future of SIM cards look like?

According to CCS Insight forecasts, 1.3 billion eSIM-enabled smartphones were in use by the end of 2024. This number is expected to rise to 3.1 billion by 2030. While Apple is making this significant step with the iPhone Air, it isn’t completely abandoning the physical SIM card. Other new iPhone models, like the 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, will be available exclusively with eSIM in some markets, but in most countries, they will still include physical SIM card slots.

Other major manufacturers, such as Samsung and Google, while adopting eSIMs as an option, still retain the physical SIM card in most locations. However, experts agree that the direction is clear. Paolo Pescatore stated: "Over time, expect the SIM slot to completely disappear."

The American President, Donald Trump, assured on Sunday that the USA would participate in the defense of Poland and the Baltic States - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania - if Russia escalates its military activity in the region.

When asked by a journalist if he would help defend these four NATO member countries in case Russia escalates its actions in the region, the American president replied, "Yes, I will do it, I will do it."
